The Oil Industry in VR: A Game for Learning and Exploration

In this project, we developed a custom VR showcase application for the Oculus Go that was designed for an oil company to showcase their company culture, way of working, and provide a better understanding of the oil industry to children and young adults. The game was built using the Unreal Engine, and all assets within the game were custom-made, including a robot, oil platform, petrochemical plant, store 3D model, shooting-showcase models for explainers, and other assets.

Gamifying Education: Developing an Engaging VR Experience for Teaching the Oil Industry

The primary challenge in this project was to create an engaging and informative VR experience that would appeal to the target audience while also providing a comprehensive understanding of the oil industry. Another challenge was to gamify the experience to provide a sense of progression, which was achieved through the use of a gun to shoot your way further.

From Scratch: Creating Custom Assets for VR Experience

To tackle the challenges, we utilized the Unreal Engine to develop a custom VR showcase application that was both engaging and informative. We created all assets within the game from scratch, including the robot, oil platform, petrochemical plant, store 3D model, shooting-showcase models for explainers, and other assets. We also gamified the experience by introducing a gun that the user could use to progress through the experience, which made it more interactive.
